A few years ago, the Broadway musical that won by far the most of the relevant Tony awards was Shpringtime er um the Producers. Tonight, the musical that's raking it in is John Water's Hairspray. (I miss the guy who, in the movie, the Producers, did Lorenzo St. Dubois ["LSD"] the hippie actor who mugged the roll of Adolph in the play-within-the-play. I once went to see Dick Shawn's one man show, "The World's Second Greatest Entertainer".)
