<<<Liz: The surprise of the night was Jerry Orbach's cop partner from Law and Order, the beautiful actor Jesse L. Martin. Onscreen, Martin is dignified, elegant and serious. But singing "Mack the Knife," he was droll, campy and delicious. I thought he did the best job of this difficult Kurt Weill-Bertolt Brecht number of any of the immortals I've ever seen try to handle it. And that's saying something, indeed. Martin should be a Broadway musical leading man. I've also read that he loves real showtunes: GUYS AND DOLLS, etc. And that he and Orbach fill their TV time between shots by singing them. Orbach was nominated for a Tony (in a revival) as Sky, but could now be a great Nathan. BFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFS "Big FLORIDA Smileys To One And All" BFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFSBFS
