In addition to the Broadway play, "No Time for Sergeants" was a novel by Mac
Hyman, a novel I remember reading a few years after it first came out
(1954); for me it was even funnier than the movie.
Leave us note en passant that Don Knotts, the future Barney Fife, played
Dexterity in the film, btw.
I wonder if anyone here ever saw the sitcom version that ran in the
1964-1965 season. Will Stockdale was played by Sammy Jackson, who played an
inductee in the movie, and the rest of the cast was equally forgettable.
(Although Hayden Rorke did play Colonel Farnsworth; most of us here would
recognize him as Dr. Alfred Bellows from "I Dream of Jeannie".)
