What are suggestions on CDs that have most inventive & musical beats? I'm just coming back to hiphop after having dropped out back in 1989 and switched to listening to strictly old school jazz. Now listening to CD samples online, trying to find out what's the most inventive stuff going on in terms of not the lyrics or the rappers, but the music behind them. All the CDs I've listened to so far sound either like Timbaland's stuff, or like older styles similar to Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions" from around 1989, or else it's very dry beats with maybe just one sample looped. Can anyone suggest CDs to listen to that have really inventive and musical beats behind the rappers or R&B singers (regardless of the abilities or voice of the rappers/singers themselves), that are "new" styles (late 1990's or newer) but don't sound like they're bitten from Timbaland, and don't sound "old school" like the older 1980's / early 90s "Nation of Milllions" or other earlier sounds? There may be lots more options out there but like I said, I'm just coming back to listening after being out a long time. Or is Timbaland all there is that sounds new & musically inventive? Thanks - Good Music
