Thanks for exploring some of my "facets" Dave. As you're now aware, my
musical background is rather diverse. I'll be posting some more from my
history shortly, I'll mention it on the group when I do so.
I've not written any lyrics or melody for the reggae arrangement, it just
got left on a back burner after the last rocket session. I was hoping to put
it on the rocket album I was producing. In view of that, and the fact that
in a way it was "born" on rocket, it would be nice to have a kind of "space"
or "sci-fi" theme. Hence the title "Saturn Five-four"
Yes, I do have some lyrics lying around that I haven't written melodies for.
My lyric writing comes in spurts. Usually brought on by emotional times.
Otherwise I tend only to write to order or when I'm bored. My lyrics may not
be very profound and I do tend to use a number of cliches in the rhyme but I
have a talent for writing verses "off the cuff" to fit any requirement. Here
is one I'd like someone to turn into a song, It was spurned from the
title...
THE NIGHTMARES COME FROM DREAMS - ŠLynn Monk - March 2001
=====================================================================
Safely sleeping in his bed,
the young child dreams of what he'd read
about the monsters in the night.
The young child dreams of such a fright
=========================
CHORUS 1
=========================
His limbs lash out.
He screams.
The nightmares come
from dreams.
=========================
The young girl sleeps in mother's arms,
dreaming of the movies' charms.
Wild animals. The lion roars.
She dreams she's chased by dinosaurs.
=========================
CHORUS 2
=========================
Her limbs lash out.
She screams.
The nightmares come
from dreams.
=========================
The homeless man in cardboard room.
Dreaming of the spring in bloom.
The seasons change to frosty nights.
The man, he shivers, then takes fright.
==============
CHORUS 1
==============
The businessman in luxury.
Dreaming of just what might be.
Stockmarket crash, he cannot flee.
Fear of impending bankruptcy.
=============
CHORUS 1
=============
Pert young housewife, fresh in love.
Dreaming of her husband's love.
Travelling salesman. Nights away.
Is it work, or is it play?
=============
CHORUS 2
=============
REPEAT LAST LINE AND FADE
