Thanks Meth! Isn't grand that we can actually have so much Happy talk here again on Ecto? I am so happy that she is playing out again and that she has new material coming out. One of the new songs that Happy did at EFW was a poignant and bittersweet song entitled "The Lucky One" (I believe that is the correct title). It was very beautiful musically and melodically ala Tivoli. The lyrics are about how her life went in a different direction than most women. It describes how she kind of longed for the wedding dress, the house with the picket fence, etc. like some of her friends, "the lucky ones". The lyric said something about that she would never be one of the "lucky ones". Was that perhaps one of the new songs that she performed? -----Original Message----- From: email-address-deleted [mailto:email-address-deleted] On Behalf Of meredith Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2003 3:33 PM To: email-address-deleted Subject: RE: Happy's houseconcert Hi, >Personally, I could use a little more obsessiveness. I guess even a busy life has room for that. :) >1) a song list This isn't going to be in anywhere near the right order and probably isn't going to be complete either, but it's the best I can do at the moment. Here's what I remember. 4 new songs (I think) Just Like Tivoli The Chariot Ra Is A Busy God Ashes to Ashes A Bee Gees song I don't know the name of but Happy said it was from one of their most recent albums Winter Tragic Because I Learn Summer Feed The Fire (the tribute version) Look For The Child When The Rain Came Down (encore) The First To Cry Please, if anyone can make corrections to this, jump in (Vickie? :). >2) descriptions of the new material I recognized a couple of the new songs from EctoFestWest. Unfortunately I was in such a haze that most of the show is a total blur in what remains of my memory, so I can't say much about the new material save that I liked it a lot. :} I'll probably be able to be more coherent about the new songs later. >3) recounting of some of the between-song Happy patter, maybe? There wasn't a whole lot, surprisingly. I think she was just focusing on the music this time around, getting her sea legs back again. She did make fun of woj for sitting in the back drinking a beer (all hail Chris Montville's homebrew <g>). But then she always has to make fun of woj for *something*. She said something -- I think it was in talking about one of the new songs -- about how she's driven to do music no matter what. (This was similar to other things she's said on stage in the past, about how important music is to her life, and how she can't live without it in her life.) >4) personal anecdotes of value (what did Happy eat? >what kinda shoes? will she date a smartass from >Chicago? heh. You know.... intrusive People Magazine >stuff). Hah! I have no idea if she ate anything, and I can't remember what shoes she was wearing, but I do vaguely recall they were black. Sorry. Maybe Noe or somebody else from the front row can go into that in more detail. ;) I hope this helps. Sorry I can't be more detailed at the moment ... life is just too insane this week. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:email-address-deleted http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Sloan Wainwright, 4/13 ===============================================
