Frisco Kid Show Review

Just came back from seeing Frisco Kid live in Ft Myers at Uptown 41. He
put o one hell of a show with massive positive feedback coming from the
audience. The doors opened at 9pm and music was provided by Klymaxx and
Undertaker from King Addies in NYC.I started the night juggling a few
tunes while waiting for Klymaxx to arrive. Around 1245 am the opening
act,a hip hop performer named Kontraband came on and did two songs.
Following him was 3 up and coming reggae artists. The only one I can
remember was Jah Pilot. Reminded me of Capleton. Did two tunes. One was
on the Showtime Riddim and the onther was on the "Bun Dun Dreadie"
Riddim. Couldnt really understand them. Didnt know if it was their mic
etiquette or the sound system. But they did a decent job. Frisco Kid
came on with "Gal Pon De Side" "Mash Up Di Place" "Rubbers" and his tune
on the Diwali. He finished off by singing two new tunes on a hip hop
riddim. If anyone here remembers the song "Hate Me Now" and "Victory" by
Nas and Puff Daddy. It was like that. The crowd called him back out and
him and Jah Pilot exchanged Mics back adn forth over the "La La Bella"
Riddim.....(If Jah by Tony Rebel and Ghetto Peoples Song by Everton
Blender)....crowd went nutts over Friscos performance. Overall it was a
very good nite. With great vibes coming from the selectors and the
performers. Frisco stayed for about an hour afterwards signing posters
and talking to ppl. He was very friendly. I was able to talk to him
after I was done packing up with Klymaxx. He said that he is currently
working on his next album. He gave me his number so he can send me some
dubs and tunes to help promote him up here. Interesting note:On his
poster it said FRISCO KID aka ANCIENT MONARCHY. I forgot to ask him if
thats the name of the new cd or what. Klymaxx is scheduled to bring
Lexxus, Bling Dawg, Cobra, Vybes Cartel and Warrior King in the next
coming months. I will keep everyone updated.
