Jesus Jingles are a derisive term that Christian artists use for "praise and
worship" songs and Contemporary Christian Music (aka CCM).
Think Christian Kitsch ...... and imagine Britney Spears trying to do a song
... with "deep lyrics" lyrics by Slim Dusty... that mebntion Jesuys fifty
million times a verse ... and with over orchestarted music by Rogers and
Hammerstein (as they are now ...dead!) ... and packaged with a picture of
Jesus ... a s white American ... in the design of a Smiley ... and a halo on
top of his head. You are now PART of the way to understanding what a
horrible mess Christian music is in!
Meanwhile U2, Bob Dylan, Bruce Cockburn, and many other Christian artists
ignore the Christian Music Charts and make good art! These Christians are
considered "of the devil, worldly, satanic, secular humanist, backslidden,
etc" by the "Elevator Muzak Makers of Jesus Jingles" and the "Trew Kristyun
Jesus Jingle Distributors" in your local Christian bookstore.
