Yeah, that one's pretty weak, now that yo mention it. I like the song, but that lyric in particular has always sat wrong. >Amy Grant's "hats" generally sucks but not many would debate that. Guh. What an awful song. I'd totally forgotten about that (despite having ranted about its awfulness repeatedly here in r.m.c. in the days of yore). Thanks for reminding me... >Steven Curtis Chapman's "Great Adventure" is pretty wretched as well, even for >him. Can't say that I've ever really listened to the lyric for that one, but I don't generally mind his stuff (but don't really hear it much, either). The only painful lyric I can think of offhand is one that came up on a mailing list I'm on recently, the opening lyric from "Grace" by U2. It's something like "Grace is the name for a girl, but it's also a thought that can change the world" or somesuch. Guh. I love U2, but gimme a break. Oh, and don't forget Audio Adrenaline, who got into the Hall of Lame early with "Buddah was a fat man! So what! Mohammed thought he had a plan! I guess not!" And don't forget Degarmo and Key's "Boycott Hell." Steve Taylor's rapped commentary on the song, in the Newsboys' cover of it? "Ain't no saint can legitimize rhyming 'pride' with 'time' with 'unionize.' See, I agree we ought to boycott hell, but we ought to boycott dumb lyrics as well." JRjr -- %%%%% Jerry B.
