I'm very disappointed by the recent news that seems to indicate that the band will be releasing a christmas album. Terribly disappointed. I had really been looking forward to a new album of ORIGINAL music, but now we're being told to expect a Christmas album...an album that can only be enjoyed at a certain time of the year. I must say that my interest in the Moody Blues dwindled after they released Strange Times. ST had a handful of good songs, but so much of it was hard to sit through. I was convinced at that point that the Moody Blues were just a hollow shell OF WHAT they once were. In the last 6-8 as we've heard more from Justin's site updates about a new album, my interest and enthusiasm for the band started to pick up again. I started relistening to a lot of their old albums that I loved so much, reconnecting to their music. I thought to myself, "maybe I didn't like their last album, but let's not call out the lights yet. Maybe they'll do a decent job with this album. I'm going to give them another chance. these guys might still have the magic" Now we hear that it's going to be a stupid christmas album, which I'm sure will mostly feature covers of traditional christmas songs, with maybe a few original songs with christmas themes written by Hayward/Lodge. My question is, why a christmas album? what the fuck for? Have the boys completely run out of ideas and can't put out an album of original material? Is it easy money and less effort? If this is true, The Moody Blues have blown yet another opportunity. And what is it with Graeme saying that they wouldn't let him include his song on the new album because it delved too deep and wasn't happy go lucky enough? Now if that's true, then the other songs must have the lyrical depth of a pothole in the street. Nothing to look forward to. Christmas album??? Say it aint so!
