No one, including Billboard, ever tracked "songs" (i.e. tracks) in the New Age Genre. Just albums. Billboard would report a "top 20" album chart for New Age Music every three or four months (not every month, though, as the genre wasn't "important" enough). NAV was not in existence until, IIRC, 1995 or 1996. They had only been around for a year or two before I started up in 1997 - I remember that. Your best bet might be to do a search at http://www.allmusicguide.com If their advance search function allows, look for "new age music" genre recordings in your particular time frame. That should net you a lot. But more likely you're talking needle in a haystack. New age music - music that everyone seems to like but no one gives a shit about (shrugs shoulders). Go figure. Enya sells nearly 40 million CDs without touring or much airplay and still new age music is ignored. George Winston's (now, somewhat over-rated) December STILL sells like hotcakes at Christmas time and new age music is ignored. And there are so many artists who are comparable to both of them that no one knows from Adam or Eve. (sigh) Personal note to Steve Stillwell: Hi Steve, how ya been? When am I gonna get another one of your CDs to review? (just kidding). Seriously, drop me a line or post here (like, anyone would notice, right?) and tell me what your latest CD is. I'd like to get it. PS. Have you seen the new monthly version of my site yet? What do ya think? Bill
