Before the creation of rec.music.classical.recordings, I recall there was some debate about the number of postings that talked about recordings of classical music on rec.music.classical. So, now that the "recordings" newsgroup has been going strong for several years, I guess what's left to post about in rec.music.classical are all those topics that *aren't* somehow related to recordings (although, ironically, that is how so many of us experience the music. I know I myself have not been to a live music event in years.) There is a rec.music.makers newsgroup for musicians, so I guess rec.music.classical would mainly consist of postings about the make-up of the music itself -- it's history, form, structure, theory, etc. -- and various live concerts and recitals. If your interest is more in sorting through the best or worst recordings of various pieces, then this is probably the group to stick with.
