Is Jazz and modern Classical music?

Jazz it started with people being influenced by African rythms playing the
music with out following the rules of thumb harmony from classical music,
and from that we have the Harmony for Jazz, but There just bigger
chords...If you take away the Accents and rythems in Jazz isn't that close
to more modern style of Harmony for classical music. Just bigger Chords?
Double major etc...Like what even means classical music for this time?. I
dont' consider American film scores classical music but maybe there would be
a track in there that would have some classical influence, then I am trying
to figure out why I consider it classical in the first place.
