After WWII many Japanese music lovers became huge fans of Western classical
music. When their post war economy finally stabilized to the point they could
afford it, they began booking tours for many classical musicians & were
horrified to discover that real live musicians made mistakes. They thought the
records were live takes & that people could actually play the music to that
level of perfection.
