That generalization is preposterous. True classical music lovers love classical music. Anything else they do or don't do is entirely up to them. Apolitical? Tell that Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tippett, Hans Werner Henze, William Schuman, Frederick Rzewski, Dmitri Shostakovich, Charles Ives, Lou Harrison, Sergei Prokofiev, Erwin Schullhof, Luigi Nono. Your generalization is not true of most composers, though it could be true of a substantial minority of them, so why should it be true of classical music lovers? Are people who listen to but do not create classical music numb to every aspect of existence other than listening to classical music? I'd like to think most of us are not that brain dead.
