The "Green Card" is a colloquialism for an I-551. Which is issued to a Lawful Permanent Resident. If you reside in another country, you are not a permanent resident. There are a couple of exceptions that come to mind. One is a North American Indian born in Canada. If you stay out of the USA for 1 year, you are deemed to have abandoned your status. If you get a job in another country while you have a residence in that other country, that could be construed as having abandoned your LPR status. And your GC would/could be taken away from you. Or you could be set up for a hearing before an Immigration Judge. "TalaGuy" <email-address-deleted> wrote in message news:email-address-deleted... > Hi: > I am applying for a Green Card.
