Hey Mr GS! Music Theory ya or nay? I've been playing for sometime now and I can't decide. Feeling is something I'd rather achieve as opposed to playing 10,000 notes in a sec.How much did music theory play a role when you first started playing? Could you also give some insight on where you get your songwriting and lyric ideas from? Ps Love the Book! Thanks-Virgoman Response from Gene: Dear Virgoman, Music theory will never hurt you... it will help you understand what you're doing. However, since modern music (pop, rock, hip hop, country) is fairly simple, one doesn't need deep musical insight or acumen to be able to be successful. In point of fact, knowing too much might keep you from getting that "commercial" sound. It's interesting to note that the vast majority of modern popular music is populated by people (myself included) that can neither read or write musical notation. === AJ IS A RACIST "Wrong. I hate to say as myself, I'm more far SUPERIOR IQ than many people around here in RMAK!!! You attack me as English skills is no excuse and you are insults." - WESLEY "My conscious is clear"-AJ,email-address-deleted
