Lost Highway, a new 4-part series on UK television station BBC2, traces the history of country music. The first programme investigated bluegrass. The program featured music by the Carter Family, the Louvin Bros, Roy Acuff, Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe and Jimmie Rodgers, as well as more contemporary artists Ricky Skaggs and Emmylou Harris. . Next Saturday's episode, Honky Tonk, includes a segment on Hank Williams. For me, it's unmissable. If you can get BBC2 where you are, and you like country music, you'll probably think so too.
