Alan - I caught only about half of this programme from my hotel room in Norwich. Did want to ask if anyone taped this 1st installment? If so, contact me off list, please! It was a great show and enjoyded it all especially the Louvin Brothers, The Stanely Brothers and the Singin' Brakeman. The short film clips of Jimmy Rogers prompted one thought though. Is there almost no footage of his singing? Because as far as I can remember this clips of him singing T for Texas (Blue Yodel No. 1) and TB Blues have been used many times before. Is there anything else on film? I was watching this episode and my wife remarked that she never realized quite so fully before that Blues & Bluegrass aren't far removed at all. In fact this BBC2 documentary should be welcome viewing to most Zellers. The first programme investigated bluegrass. The program featured music by the Carter Family, the Louvin Bros, Roy Acuff, Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe and Jimmie Rodgers, as well as more contemporary artists Ricky Skaggs and Emmylou Harris. . Next Saturday's episode, Honky Tonk, includes a segment on Hank Williams. For me, it's unmissable. If you can get BBC2 where you are, and you like country music, you'll probably think so too.
