There is a tried and true response to this sort of crisis. Sing a
patriotic song, wave the flag, chant "GOD BLESS AMERCIA", pray to God
and demonise some group or country and hopefully no one will notice
the red ink, or care much if they do. And by the time enough people
grow weary of phony jingoism you sir will be sitting on a creek on
your Texas ranch fishing in your retirement. And from retirement you
can answer questions posed by upstart cadet journalists with "We know
more now", or "there was a crisis, what could we do".
