That's backwards. WCS is not a "Ballroom Dance". WCS has always been
interpretive. Over time the interpretation evolves with the dancers
and the music. As taught and danced exclusively in the Ballroom
community it's certainly recognizable as WCS but partners from the
communities don't generally enjoy dancing with those from the "other
side" as much as from their own "side". "Interpretive" and "Ballroom"
are practically mutually exclusive.
NC2S, like WCS as taught in the ballroom community are codified
versions of street dances. Who is it you think is in a position to
control how others codify or not a street dance? I'm not saying NC2S
was the name of an existing street dance but that it's a codification
of grass roots dancing observed in nightclubs. WCS, of course, had
its name and community prior to it's recent increased popularity in
the ballroom world.
