Thanks, Stu. Great playing but my head is still spinning.. Do the traditional rhythms for doumbek sound like this? I thought if I bought one I'd be playing some slower, seductive belly dance type rhythms. I once saw a belly dancer in a Greek restaurant and I was entranced -- not in a lustful sort of way, but.. not sure how to say it, but like how a snake feels when he is grooving to the snake charmer's music :) especially when she had that groove on the zils!. I believe there was a doumbek on the CD she was dancing to. Where can I get some o' that? -SV "stu" <email-address-deleted> wrote in message news:lcWna.513873$F1.72039@sccrnsc04... > Here's a sound file (not mp3)from numan elyer, a turkish percussionist > friend of mine living in the UK: > > http://rhythmweb.com/gdg/audio/numan_karnaturk_solo.ram > > > there is a yahoo group devoted to goblet shaped drums like doumbek and > tonbak.
