You missed my point. It's my fault, because I am lazy.
My point is Hustle has sufficient latin roots, so that hustling to Merengue
is not "whoring" at all.
Latin dancing does not amount to "cuban hip motion", just as Latin music
does not amount to presence of the mysterious clave.
Unlike lindy to Waltz, NY Hustle fits Merengue perfectly IMO in many
respects.
Besides, it is a mistake to always identify dance style with music style.
If it were so, 75% Chachas danced socially today would be shameless
"whoring".
And recently I pretty often hear Samba dance announced only to hear some
kind of Persian belly dance tune.
Do you want to know my opinion why e.g., Macarena and Lambada fads faded
away quickly?
Because you could dance Macerena only to Macarena tune and Lambada to
Lambada.
