I know the Sufism is the mystical offshoot of Islam, but am wondering when Americans Sufi Dance, sometimes called "Dances of the Heart" is this a form of worship? I believe that the dances are sometimes also with chants, songs, and meditations. Thanks for your input, Edwin>> When birds become nostalgic they dance, thus sufis dance when they become nostalgic for their original abode with God, the ultimate truth. I once read a report that Muhammed mentioned something about the "truth" to a bunch of his followers, then stood up, ordered them to stand up and move their heads right and left, and then asked: Who is willing to chant for us? a man came near to him and started chanting: "The snake of love stung my liver, and I find no physician to cure me nor a magician" After that Muhammed said: Do you know who is the niggard? They said: Allah and his prophet know best. He said: The niggard is one who does not move when he hears the name of the beloved. ----- some sufis dance, some don't, so it is not a "form" of worship.
