Due to a new method of recording swing dance competitions, we will be
shipping the Seattle Easter Swing tapes and DVDs well before the 6-8 week
usual time period. We should be shipping later this week.
For the first time in Swing Dance convention history, Thumbs Up Video
recorded the entire Seattle event on a computer hard drive as well as
digitial tape. Using only the hard drive and new 17" Apple laptop, we
edited the entire event in the truck driving home! The only think we had to
finish was the encoding for the DVDs. The DVDs are chaptered for every
division so you can access each couple's performance immediately. This is
the first 'tapeless' event we know of in Swing Dance videotaping history.
If you ordered the Seattle event, you'll be glad to know that we have also
upgraded our 3-camera switching unit to 'component' level. This is the same
quality of video that you get out of a high-end DVD player. We are also
using our 3 new Sony professional digital cameras for this system. The video
(even on VHS tape) is better than any other dance event we have videotaped.
We will be using this new switching/camera system in Atlanta during the
Grand Nationals later this month.
We are always striving to obtain the best video quality available for our
customers. If you'd like to order either the Easter Swing or the NADC we
assure you these will be the best quality tapes and DVD you will see of ANY
