If you want to hear great mastery of melody, you can go to Mozart... but that doesn't mean rock and other popular genres don't have notable artists who can create killer melodies. It's a matter of giving something new a chance (and yes, in the historical perspective, rap is relatively new). I used to be with you -- my favorite saying was "rap is crap;" if there wasn't at least one guitarist, it wasn't worth listening to (I was a big hard rock / metal fan). But then I decided that I wasn't going to be so closed-minded... and what a world of treasures have been opened for me! I've grown a strong appreciation for some music in almost every genre (still having a little trouble finding techno music that I like). Whether it is Classical chamber music or heavy metal or bluegrass or rap, there's something out there that took skill and pure talent to create -- I'm not going to deny myself of good music that's out there. But if you don't want to, hey, it's your life, your loss. -- Kevin Buffardi "Rockstars -- is there anything they don't know?" -Homer Simpson
