Paul was on the = fringe of this, that, and the other, .." There's a reason people say this and it's supported by other = eye-witnesses and documentation. These people are simply talking about a = different time period (mid-65-68) on the 'fringe' and a different kind = of 'fringe' than when Lennon came to occupy that territory (1968---73) = to greater intensity and fanfare. And, if you were to also do a survey of "Beatle books", Radio = programs and Documentaries, etc. about the band out there - to an unsuspecting person .. they would = come to the conclusion that=20 John was just a lyric writer, who did a lot of drugs, and was = nothing more than Paul's sidekick. Well, John did do a lot of drugs,(as did Paul) and he wrote some fine = lyrics, (as did Paul) but I don't get the impression from the dozens of = Beatles books I've read or documentaries that I've seen that John Lennon = is nothing more than Paul's sidekick. I don't think Goldman even = suggested that. And the current opinion polls I've seen overwelming = suggest the opposite... =20 Of course, those perceptions are totally distorted beyond = recognition and a great injustice to Lennon, who was a one-of-kind voice of a generation, and after = all, as Ringo pointed out:=20 it was really John's band and he was the "fringe" guru. Lennon was great and an important voice of a generation....Paul has = said so himself many times. I don't place as much importance on who = started the band as John and Ringo. John started the Quarrymen and by = the time The Beatles evolved Paul and George were indispensible to that = development. Freddy Mercury was the third member to join Queen and = Gilmour was a replacement in Pink Floyd. That's why I illuminated Ringo's words .... so that it is clear he = is trying=20 to correct a what has been ... false history out out there.
