Sure it is. One of Dylan's earliest and finest performances was Bob doing "Wade in the Water." Dylan mastered the form (gospel music). It was apparent to a lot of us who got SLOW TRAIN COMING and SAVED upon their release. It was even more apparent for those of us who saw Dylan's show at the Warfield in San Francisco, shows where he was nothing short of on fire. I think this has more with the public's perception of what a singer should be....as opposed to what the singer actually is. Not all that far off from folks who scratched their heads when Springsteen sang of marital bliss. > > Jeez, big-band standards is a valid form of American music, but I certainly > shudder at the thought of *Dylan* ripping through the Sinatra songbook! > LOVE AND THEFT. "Moonlight." "Bye and Bye." "Floater." 'nuff said.
