Was that a Dylan line? I seem to remember that as being something Van Morrison sang (thought it was something along the lines of copycats rob me blind).....but I could be wrong (and would be glad to know otherwise). >And were people this stressed when he > lifted wholesale The Parting Glass and The Patriot Game? Well, a lot of folks seem to feel as though it's justifiable to lift a traditional folk/gospel song....since they are public domain. But to the best of my knowledge, I don't think "Patriot Game" was public domain (wasn't it penned somewhere in the late 1950s?). >At any rate, as T.S. Eliot once said, "mature poets steal." Nobody's > gonna argue that Dylan ain't mature. T.S. Eliot was absolutely correct.....and I doubt there are many poets who have been widely read or heard who would disagree with Mr. Eliot's words, including Dylan.
