The closest one is the Piedmont Classical Guitar Society, which was formed in 1981 by Aaron Shearer when he moved from Peabody to the NC School of the Arts. It is based in Winston-Salem, about 1-1/2 hours from Charlotte. The Triangle Guitar Society is in Chapel Hill, 2-1/2 hours away. My duo partner and I have discussed starting another one here in Charlotte, but haven't made any moves yet. Maybe your friend could help us get it going! Jeff Carter
