Which guitar for beginner and for metal music ?

Hi, I'm french (sorry for my poor english)
A shop propose me a IBANEZ GRX70L but my new neighbor (a profession guitar
player) tell me that is a shit (bad wood, harmony problem,...). He propose
me a fender squier (standard stratocaster). I don't like very much (at all
!) the color. It is a guitar for metal ?.
My questions:
What do you think about this ibanez ?
This shop (for left-handed only ) sold yamaha guitar too, what do you think
about these guitars?
What is the best choice for play metal music for a beginner and with a low
cost (< 400$) ?
