I would agree w/ the mic/mixer route as well. Wthout even having to buy
a new soundcard, you could purchase a micro-sized mixer by behringer (8
channel, 4 mic, 4 line) for around $80,

then pick up a mic or 2, maybe even a used shure 57/58 on ebay. If
interested in a very powerful, inexpensive software solution for
multitrack, you might try n-track studio. http://www.fasoft.com/ .16
bit version is$45, 24bit $69.
You could also pickup a multi in-out soundcard for a little over $200 in
the Maudio Delta series. Anyway hope this helps. If you don't need the
soundcard though, the mixer mic combo could be had for under $200.
