I would agree w/ the mic/mixer route as well. Wthout even having to buy a new soundcard, you could purchase a micro-sized mixer by behringer (8 channel, 4 mic, 4 line) for around $80, http://www.zzounds.com/love.music?p=p.BEHMX802A&z=1631635933131 then pick up a mic or 2, maybe even a used shure 57/58 on ebay. If interested in a very powerful, inexpensive software solution for multitrack, you might try n-track studio. http://www.fasoft.com/ .16 bit version is$45, 24bit $69. You could also pickup a multi in-out soundcard for a little over $200 in the Maudio Delta series. Anyway hope this helps. If you don't need the soundcard though, the mixer mic combo could be had for under $200.
