Which do yo prefer? me prefers Mozart over Haydn. mind you, I"ve played lots of Haydn piano sonatas and some concertos when I was a kid, and I know his "London's Symponies" cycle, this is about it. It's a nice and pleasant music to listen, but that's about it. Reminds me golden retriever: always in the same positive mood. Yes, yes, there are many exceptions, and Haydn music can be quite dramatic, "farewell symphony", blah, blah ... Well, golden retriver may get pissed off once in a while too. I see as a composer you should like Haydn. His music is well crafted, no doubt about it. But from my perspective as unwashed listener, I certainly prefer Mozart. Have lots of his recordings, mostly instrumental music, and listen it quite often. The scope, the emotional range -- this is what makes me completely involved while listening his music. Still remember attending his 'Marriage of Figaro' about a year ago. Opera like this is something which justifies to left the opera theaters intact (rather than blow them up as Boulez has suggested at some point)
