I got to hang out with Barbara last fall at the Cork Jazz Festival. I arranged
for her to perform with guitarist Mimi Fox and drummer Allison Miller at the
festival.
They had never played together but sent each other charts and recordings to
check out. They had one rehersal and then played two nights together. It was
amazing. Mimi & Barbara have a great chemistry and with Allison on drums it
really grooved.
We hope to get that group to tour together at some point and hopefully record
it. We did record those two cocnerts in Cork on Barbara's mini-disc recorder
but the sound quality isn't very balanced.
Barbara is an amazing musician and a very sweet person as well.
She will be in the U.S. in May performing at the Kennedy Center Mary Lou
Williams Women In Jazz Festival.
