General Travel Advisory for Jazz Festival/California State Fair

This is a general advisory for travellers to the Jazz Festival and the California State Fair 9 February 2003 All travellers should be aware that the United States Government is now tightening the requirements for entering the United States. The U.S. Government no longer grants visa waivers. All foreigners MUST have a valid U.S. entry visa to enter the United States. For travellers from Asia and Australia, Aloha Airlines and Suntrips will be starting international service from Maui International Airport into Sacramento International Airport, in addition to the service already being run by Hawiian Air from Honolulu. Aloha is due to start flights between Maui and Sacramento, via LAX, in April, and Suntrips will have weekly nonstop flights starting in June. All travellers transiting Hawaii should be sure that they have the appropriate transit visas, before attempting to travel to the U.S. via Hawaii. Even with a valid U.S. entry visas, you can be denied entry into Hawaii, and onward travel to the U.S., if you dont have the appropriate transit visas. Citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Japan, Canada, E.U. countries, and the U.S. currently do not require visas to enter Hawaii, citizens of all other countries should check transit visa requirements before attempting to transit via Hawaii. The Sacramento Jazz Festival will take place May 22-26 in Sacramento, and the State Fair will be taking place August 15th to September 1st of this year.\ Travellers should be aware that becuase of the state budget crisis, the costs to attend the fair will be much higher this year. General admission will be going to $9 this year, and parking will be $8. Carnival wristbands (all days) will be $20, all days.
