This is an interestng question, as my city's local public radio station
constantly refers to jazz as "American classical music". Certainly, I beg
to differ.
Jazz is no more "classical" music than scat-singing is opera catterwalling.
Besides, I've often asked, if jazz is "classical" music, then what is Aaron
Copland's?
