Funny you should mention vibes, because that's another instrument that's inherently unsuitable for the making of jazz music -- not because it's "plugged in", but because it produces a sound that is fundamentally of an effete nature. Which is not to say that it's impossible, but consider the fact that in the entire history of the music, only 4 or 5 people -- if you can think of more, I'd be interested to know of them -- have actually managed to make real jazz music on vibes. In other words, it borders on the dog-walking-on-hind-legs category -- hardly an overwhelming vote for its merits, I'm sure you'll agree. -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG
