Many would rather listen to fingernails on a > blackboard rather than "G-music." That's unlikely. To most people, smooth jazz is, at worst, bland and innocuous. Avant garde jazz, on the other hand, is downright grating. If the average person was locked in a room and told he had to listen non-stop to music that is either bland/innocuous or downright grating, I think he'd choose the former. Notice I did say *average* person, which I think is what Zee Dodo means by "normal people." And I'm talking about the *sound* of smooth jazz, not the *idea* of it which I realize is downright grating to some.
