He just has me stop the shoulder turn once it runs into resistance. It is a much shorter backswing than what I used to use (but I do get the club to parallel). There is very little tension or coil (so far). There is no effort to get a 90* shoulder turn. Just turn until resistance is felt and then start down. I have actually increased swing speed and distance because things aren't getting torqued out of place, and the swing is a lot more controllable and accurate. The speed comes from swinging freely, the width of the swing (straight left arm), full wristcock, and delayed release. In this swing, the shoulders don't play a large role in the downswing. The arms swing freely down from the top, and the right shoulder stays back until the hands clear through. The arms seem to swing a lot quicker, at least for me, when they are swinging freely rather than being "body-locked". He does want me to get my weight on my left heel before the downswing, though, so I guess there is _some_ body in the swing. I know this may sound like heresy to a lot of you guys, and goes against a lot of books, but it seems to be working for me.
