How to burn and play files on karaoke machine?

I'm new to this and this may be a dumb question, but here goes: I downloaded a
karaoke song file, and it comes out as two files: an MP3 and a CD+G. I burn
both of those files onto a CD using a CD+G compatible Plextor 820 writer. I
then take the CD to my CD+G/CD/DVD karaoke deck attached to my stereo and my TV.
But I only get the sound. I don't get the text showing up on my TV. Anyone
know what I'm doing wrong? Do I need any additional software to convert these
files to another format first? Thanks!
