What player are you using?
Midi-karaoke is quite different from other media. You can find out all you
need to know about midi-karaoke by reading the FAQ for alt.binaries.karaoke
and following the links to the various sites mentioned in the FAQ.
If memory serves, there is a similar FAQ for alt.binaries.sounds.karaoke,
which handles such things as MP3+G and CDG.
