Creating Karaoke CD's from MP3 files

I have a friend with a karaoke machine, and she was hosting a party
last weekend. However, the only karaoke CD's that she had (in CD+G
format that show the words on the screen) were pop music which was
totally unfamiliar to me. I only know country songs, but none of
anyone's country CD's were karaoke-format (i.e. you had to have
memorized all of the lyrics or read the liner notes).
Anyway, I wanted to know if there's any way I could make my own
karaoke CD's using MP3 files and typing out the lyrics to the songs
and having them appear in sync on the TV screen with the music?
Is there software available for this purpose?
