meri mehaboob kahin aur mila kar muzse:lyric and tune mismatch

Dear Friends
I was shocked to hear the romantic tune composed by Madan Mohan for
this song.For a moment I thought I am listening to "Bahaaro.n phoola
barasaao meraa mehabooba aaya".Sahir's lyric has got
anger,frustration, alienation etc.However there is no trace of these
emotions in Rafi's voice or MM's tune.
In stark contrast "tanga aa chuke hai kashma kashe zindagi se hum" by
Rafi in Pyasaa corrects captures the spirit of Sahir's lyric.
Can someone who has seen the film offer any explanation?
