Could someone kindly help me out with an interpretation of the following
lyric:
Ha`ina `ia mai ana ka puana
I hear it quite a bit in Hawaiian songs. I'm not sure the hyphenation is
accurate. Using the dictionary was an exercise in futility. Going to some
lyric websites gave a variety of interpretations that seemed only vaguely
connected. I get the impression that it is rather flexable a lyric. Could
anyone shed some light on its popularity or history (if there is one)?
Thanks in advance for any help.
