Ask Mr. Katz how many of his shows have been produced on or off-Broadway, and how many recordings there are of his shows. He claims to be a professional writer but mostly supports himself as a rehearsal/show pianist and coach. (This is according to his posts. I have not met or spoken with him.) I have supported myself since 1971 as an actor and director in (yes) regional theaters (some which Mr. Katz would love to have do his shows) and tours. Of course, none of this matters. ***More importantly......*** He wrote two posts on rec.arts.theatre.musicals bragging that he was performing a song that "would ruffle the feathers of the PETA crowd" in a one-night celebration of his ouvre attended by family and friends. He did indeed call me a "pro-pet wacko" when I labelled "offensive" (to me) some lyrics in a song (from the 60's Broadway musical LET IT RIDE!) A song, which out of context, was once aimed at children. It details various images such as "the fluffy little bunny hangs in the Butcher's Shop." Even after an impassioned post for animal compassion from my wife which I will be posting here, Mr. Katz went on to post his lyric in an in-your-face manner on a separate thread. Interestingly, no one commented on it, probably because it revealed such an astonishing lack of talent--in addition to its juvenile content. To add further context, Mr. Katz is a pc policeman on the musicals newsgroup, counting and posting the number of "vulgarisms" used by each poster. I merely wanted to point out what many besides myself regard as a true vulgarism. Of course, his own words have done it better than I ever could. ---------------------------------- Stephen Ross Newport (no hyphen) who retired to Florida in June 2002 after living in the suburbs of NYC, Philadelphia and D.C. Group: talk.politics.animals Date: Sun, Mar 9, 2003, 9:31pm (EST+5) From: email-address-deleted (Noel=A0Katz) I hope the people of this newsgroup understand what's happened here: Mr. Stephen Ross-Newport, a small-time actor from Florida, has here reprinted a lyric to a comedy song I wrote. He has done this out of personal animus towards me. Indeed, I called him a "pro-pet wacko" after he objected to a song I didn't write.
