You noticed the "covering" too? She's a very Verdian-sounding soprano, and sometimes that intensity overwhelmed her diction. Knowing the score and libretto beforehand made it easier for me to understand what Susannah was conveying in word and music, but I wonder what it was like for those who had never seen/heard the opera. Besides that, Sondra's acting was wonderful, and she looked very much the part, and probably more age-appropriate than Renée Fleming (who I've heard was good musically, but not that age-appropriate). What did you think of Dorothy Byrne as Mrs. McLean? I found her "look" to be a very warped version of Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies. In an odd way, it worked. And her singing--though there wasn't much of it--was very well done. -Phil -- "I hope they have ICEEs!" -- from "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist" "Rinuccio4" <email-address-deleted> wrote in message news:email-address-deleted... > << > For me the standout was Sondra Radvanovsky (sp?) as Susannah.
