Taken from: http://web.ftc-i.net/~rkanderson/weirdal/amwa/trolls/stanhelp.htm Check it out for some interesting facts about this twat 'The Rooster' AND some great info on how to get rid of him. Stan Rosenthal says his actions speak louder than his or anyone else's words. Those actions tell us that he.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...IMPLICATES HIMSELF WHEN CHALLENGING OTHERS. In more than one post he tells the poster "Just because you say something, doesn't make it true." Yet Stan expects us to listen to his idiotic ramblings. He has also stated that if something were true, it wouldn't need to be repeated, but he repeats his wild theories ad nauseum. ...WON'T SUPPORT THE CLAIMS HE MAKES. Stan doesn't give reasons or show evidence for why he has so many odd notions about Weird Al, The Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd, The Police, Yes, Brave Combo, Little Jack Melody (whoever the hell that is), Shwanz Lefantz (whoever the hell THAT is)!! and many more. He claims to have previously presented the information and invites us to sift through his hundreds of ridiculous posts every week. Sometimes he'll point us to a lyric or album cover (or he just presumtuously posts those images now) to supposedly figure out what he's talking about, but doesn't say what to look for, or what he sees there. Although he asks us again and again to prove what we say, he won't prove what he says. ...APPEARS TO NOT BELIEVE IN WHAT HE SAYS. In the majority of his posts, he shields his comments with IMHO or similar noncommittal language. That's because he has no facts or evidence to back up his statements. He also makes completely irrelevant posts and then says they're related to the newsgroup, adding the caveat "IMHO" so that the facts can't interfere with his wild ideas. He's deliberately playing games. ...IS MISGUIDED, CONFUSED AND PARANOID. He claims people are trying to censor him, and places the conspiracy on the shoulders of an imaginary gang. Specifically, he claims that Weird Al has been sending him messages through lyrics, and has written songs about Stan since 1983, and written songs as long ago as 1987 about the alt.music.weird-al newsgroup! He claims that Al is actually Big Bucks Burnett who produced an album with Tiny Tim and Brave Combo. He claims that Bermuda Schwartz (Weird Al's drummer and a fixture in alt.music.weird-al) is lying to us. He also claims that Bermuda is not Bermuda! He posts all manner of religious, political and conspiracy ramblings in newsgroups whose participants (with the exception of Stan himself) are simply trying to talk about the subject of that newsgroup, and claims that his nonsense is "very related" or is a "synch" (whatever THAT means....) ...IS DELUSIONAL. In alt.music.weird-al, Stan posted that "Al communicated with me that he wanted me on the newsgroup". He says that Weird Al "had a BUNCH of stuff to sneak through the censors on Running With Scissors" and on other albums by Al and other artists too. Stan has also stated that he's met and talked with some of the people in alt.music.weird-al, yet every person named has denied meeting him or being involved in the circumstance under which Stan claims they met. And he constantly points people to a photo (http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.weirdal.com/013099b.htm) implying that there's some significance or answers to be found in it! To set the record straight, I emailed Bermuda about that photo (deliberately not mentioning it had to do with Stan), and he replied: "I ran into Chad at the NAMM Show (a music marketing convention) and asked him to take a pic with me for Al's web site. We were chatting about Al's "Bedrock Anthem" and the Chili Peppers' "Give It Away" videos, and joking about wearing horns in them. So he put his fingers to his head like they were horns, then I did the same. It was just Chad being his usual funny self, with me doing a little clowning, too!" ...FALSIFIES OTHER PEOPLES STATEMENTS. When replying and quoting another post, he frequently omits specific words in order to present an inaccurate version of what was originally said, and pretends that his edited version has another meaning, to which Stan makes one of his typical idiotic replies. He also imagines that, if someone doesn't state their message in 110% error-proof overly-semantic legalese, they're trying to cover up something by deliberately "omitting" information. Stan likes semantic loopholes, and invents them where he can't find any. ...CLAIMS TO BE A REAL FAN. He knows surprisingly little about the subjects of the newsgroups he posts in. (In the case of Weird Al, Stan had only recently acquired classic albums like UHF and Off The Deep End. He also frequently misquotes lyrics and then says he's one of only a few people who cares about Al's music and art). ...CLAIMS HE'S A WEIRD AL AUTHORITY WITH IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OTHER FANS. He asks us to believe his wacky theories, but in the case of alt.music.weird-al says that Bermuda isn't being truthful with the information on his page or in the newsgroup. Why does Stan discredit Bermuda, the only official Weird Al authority on the internet? ...IS A HYPOCRITE. Stan says Bermuda is his idol but at the same time challenges, criticizes, mocks and disrespects Bermuda, then edits Bermuda's words to have other meanings. ...IS DISRESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE IN THE NEWSGROUP. Example: Stan asked a supposedly innocent question about whether a newbie went to a certain school. When the poster replied yes, Stan responded with a sarcastic slam for no reason. In fact, when Stan isn't commenting with "no comment" or "prove it", nearly every post from him contains antagonistic, condescending, insulting, or profane language. ...POSTS INAPPROPRIATE INFORMATION FOR KIDS. Some of Stan's posts are particularly disturbing. On several occasions, he has made "replies" to posts containing porno links, quoting the link in his "reply". The problem is, the "original" posts never appeared in the newsgroup! Stan deliberately placed his posts there, pretending they were "replies", so he could post the porno links. That information is certainly not appropriate in alt.music.weird-al, a newsgroup populated mostly by kids, and begs the question "Is Stan a pedophile?" ...SPAMS PROFANITY AND BINARIES ACROSS SEVERAL NEWSGROUPS. Stan has made hundreds of posts with profanity (from bull*** to f*** and f***ing to c***, very bad slang for a female body part) or images, some of them pretty large, in non-binaries newsgroups. ...ISN'T SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN TO QUIT. Stan has been ousted from AOL twice (which is a major event from a company that lets their subscribers basically get away with murder) and from msn.com which is another company so big that it takes a LOT of abusive behavior to get terminated....all within a year. ...ISN'T SMART ENOUGH TO SPEAK FOR HIMSELF. He constantly hides behind song lyrics and other quotations as answers to other peoples posts, never explaining how the quotes are relevant or how they're supposed to suffice as replies. ...HAS ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR. Among his thousands of ridiculous statements, he announced that he could build a case showing he has "more credibility than Jesus Christ." ...IS CHILDISH. He engages in namecalling, and when cornered he hides behind "no comment", or quotes another meaningless lyric, or says "look in the mirror when you speak". Isn't that the same as "I know you are but what am I?" ...THINKS NEWSGROUPS ARE IS HIS PERSONAL PLAYGROUND! In alt.music.weird-al, Stan terrorized and disrupted the newsgroup, harassing and inciting the participants and posting profanity. But when Al's fans ask him to behave himself and make sense, he invites them to unsubscribe from their own newsgroup! Starting in 1999, he also began to pull the same nonsense in rec.music.dementia, alt.tv.snl, alt.music.yes, alt.music.beck, alt.music.polkas, alt.music.pink-floyd, alt.music.offspring, alt.music.todd-rundgren, alt.music.tom-waits, alt.music.tmbg, alt.rock-n-roll.acdc, rec.music.progressive, alt.music.blink-182, alt.music.limp-bizkit, alt.music.fatboy-slim, alt.music.beatles, alt.music.no-doubt, alt.music.police, alt.music.fleetwood-mac and alt.music.foo-fighters while spamming his idiotic messages across several newsgroups at once, whether they are related to his ramblings or not. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even though the above Stan behavior is familiar to us, he denies all of it. Need more proof? Further examples are too numerous to list here but if you have really never observed Stan in action, you can research his thousands of posts at http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.dejanews.com/. His actions are clearly revealed in them, but he'll deny it anyway! Fellow newsgroupers, think about this: If Stan had any kind of real facts or important messages to convey to fans, wouldn't they also be referenced on official websites? Why aren't his incredible facts and revelations mentioned anywhere else in the world except by Stan in the newsgroups, and on his bizarre website? Why does Stan dis everyone in the newsgroup? Isn't he smart enough at age 45 to conduct an intelligent conversation without resorting to profanity, insults or quoting irrelevant lyrics as a response? Why won't Weird Al's drummer Bermuda (who Stan claims is his idol) talk to Stan or even read his posts? What does that tell you about Stan's credibility and behavior in alt.music.weird-al? Why can't Stan stay on topic in newsgroups? Obviously because his purpose is to NOT discuss the topic of the newsgroup! Why does anyone continue replying to Stan's posts? Do they really believe they can make any sense to him or that they'll get a direct answer in language they can understand? Does anybody really think that after Stan's behavior and disruption of alt.music.weird-al and other fine newsgroups, he's still entitled to the respect of a reply? Consider this: Stan advocates that people should make up their own minds and decide things for themselves, and quotes Brave Combo: "Don't believe anyone, don't believe your mail. Make light of every word you hear ... " Use that advice! Ignore Stan's ramblings and get your facts from official websites! Those sites won't lie to you or disguise their meanings, or disrespect you, or spew profanity, or play mind games or word games with you, or force you to put up with wildly imaginative theories about politics or religion, or disrupt the newsgroup. Yet Stan does ALL of those things, at the same time stating that he's an important member of the newsgroup! Now do you still think Stan deserves any further attention from any of us? Please, give the insanity a rest. Don't acknowledge or reply to his posts. Signed, A long time poster and friend of alt.music.weird-al, and a true fan of Weird Al. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more specifics about Stan and the problems he has caused in alt.music.weird-al: http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://members.aol.com/catradhtem/satan.htm For the best and most accurate information about Weird Al, visit these websites: http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.weirdal.com/ http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.emsphone.com/Al http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.emsphone.com/Yankovic http://web.archive.org/web/20010726204059/http://www.webspan.net/~dprossi --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
