Chris;
You are such a silly person. All you did was Google these up and you did
not check relevance.
The first song by Ron Steward and Ron Wood about "Gasoline Alley" could
be about the strip, but I doubt it. have you read the lyrics? I just do
not picture them fitting the comic at all. Besides Rod Steward doing
"Gasoline Alley", The Hollies and The Fortunes each did a cover of
"Gasoline Alley Bred". You can catch a sample of The Fortunes cover of
this song here: {http://cheap-cds.com/surf/disps/147469}. Could they be
singing about Phyllis? ;^)
Likewise for the second link to the lyrics by The Bamboozlers, "For
Better Or Worse". It *might* also be about the strip, because of the way
they capitalize the phrase at the end of the chorus - but the rest of
the lyrics just don't fit. "All the while my heart is dyin`" and "She
doesn't feel the same for me, and I know it will never work". I don't
think so. I also found several other "For Better Or Worse" song samples
at Cheap-CDs which are even less likely.
Your third reference to "Love Is", I feel is completely off base. If
you've ever done a song search at someplace like CD-Now (before Amazon
bought them and "Amazonified" them) based on a few popular words, you
soon discover that some themes are used over and over and over. "Love
Is" has got to be one of those themes. In fact you can go to
{http://cheap-cds.com/} and do your own search to see (make sure to have
"Song" selected in the drop down box, it can sometimes be persnickety).
I'd do it for you, but the URL is mucked up and re-entering it does not
yield the search results page. I got 22 hits for "Love Is", plus
numerous "Love Is <insert rest of title>". Of the 22 songs titled "Love
Is" two are repeats by the same artists, so there *might* be 20 unique
songs titled "Love Is". Of those there were 13 working song samples.
Interestingly, every single one seemed to be different, and none of them
seemed to be the song you found. Here is a listing of the artists who
had working song samples: Alannah Myles, Baker Gurvitz, Beautiful South,
Chi-Lites, Delfonics, Emmylou Harris, Len Barry, Maze, Mike James
Kirkland, Mo Thugs, Randy Crawford, Rotary Connection, and Stevie Nicks.
So there are at least 13 different songs titled "Love Is" just on this
one web site. Personally I doubt *any* of them are about the strip with
the two naked kids... ok, maybe the Mo Thugs song - the "She's got a
heart like a grizzly bear, smooth skin that'll take you there." lyric
almost has me convinced. ;^)
For your fourth reference to "Blondie" you *really* blew it dude. I'd
suggest you Google "Debbie Harry". She was the Bad Blond Girl when
Madonna was in diapers. Or, if you want some samples how about: {http://cheap-cds.com/surf/disps/292843} {http://cheap-cds.com/surf/disps/305854} {http://cheap-cds.com/surf/disps/287348}
I don't see Dagwood anywhere on these pages...
Have you heard *any* of these songs you suggested?
Scotty
