Being uninspired I set out to try and craft a song. I desisted from reading other posts on this thread. I compiled a worksheet of ideas and fragments, hoping inspiration would strike and a song emerge. No song emerged. The thread was going stale, so I read it. "Parallel lines" is a brilliant poetic image. Just two words encapsulated 90% of what I was trying to say. A few on this forum might be interested in the process I adopted, so I have posted my worksheet. It is a long rambling document, a warning to those not interested. The line I most liked is past its "use by" date. I was thinking about the parallel lines image, and trying to find another. Any normal man would have thought the window needs cleaning, but ... Instead "The other side of the window". It used none of my worksheet. I have stuck in a verse from it in anyway, but I am not convinced. David F. Cox
