Odd to find a link that helps on a French site for band who apparently covers "It's Cold Outside" in live performances but hasn't recorded it, but that was enough to let me discover more about the original song/artist on my own. The band who originally performed the song was "The Choir". They were somewhat of a local Cleveland phenomenon in the mid-60s, with some members going on to form The Raspberries later in the decade/early 70s.. The song "It's Cold Outside" received some national attention in 1967 (it was released at the end of 1966). But apparently its hit status in Cleveland bled over regionally to the western Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) area where I grew up, because it was quite popular there as well. I was in 8th grade when the song came out. I couldn't recite the lines to one "Top 40" style song that's popular today, but even the most obscure of the "hits" from that era stick with me. Everything is so intense and burned into your brain when you're a teenager! :-) Thanks, Lady Giraffe. Would've sent you an e-mail reply as well, but your return address looks as though it's coated with Spam protective armor, so I didn't try. Now I'll go tell my husband that I didn't make the song up! :-) Dana Schwartz (who loves Usenet because there is always *someone* who knows the answers to the questions!) email-address-deleted or email-address-deleted
